Fowey

On board the luxury motor boat Windana, the harbourside town of Fowey is just a one hour cruise from the port of Falmouth, passing the south coast villages of Portscatho, Gorran Haven and Mevagissey on the way.

Fowey is an attractive and popular holiday destination with its historic town and natural harbour being a haven for yachtsmen (both motor and sail) with many boats cruising to the harbour from Salcombe, Dartmouth and Plymouth, as well as Falmouth. Fowey Regatta week in August is a particularly busy and lively time when the locals provide a whole host of events both on land and on sea for visitors to enjoy either as a spectator or as a participant. The Red Arrows aerial display is a major attraction during this week of events.

Fowey is an exporting port for china clay and watching the pilot boats manoeuvre the huge ships in the harbour to be pulled upstream to the commercial jetties is quite a sight; slightly more nerve wracking if you are moored up on one of the outer harbour moorings!

On the opposite bank, also at the mouth of the river, is the village of Polruan with a regular passenger ferry connecting the two villages.

Fowey town has a good selection of shops and galleries and plenty of choice for food and drink - a perfect destination, weather permitting, for your day's charter.
